Baggage of immortality haunts Fox's 'New Amsterdam'

TV characters seem to lug lots of personal baggage.
Still, few match John Amsterdam of Fox's "New Amsterdam" series. He has four centuries of baggage.
"It's a complicated life he has," says Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays him.
Long and complicated. Back in 1642, he was given a spell that includes near-eternal life. As the series starts (Tuesday, March 4), he's great at being a police detective, not at being a happy person.
"He has these rich life experiences," Coster-Waldau says. "(But) he's not very good at being with other people."
